Rumor Has It...

I almost didn't make it -- y'know, watching this movie, because I read so many bad reviews about this movie. So I thought what the hey, they must be right, this movie probably not worth it and so on... but I went anyway, and I had to admit that they were wrong. I thought this movie is nice. Yes, it's not a great movie, but I do enjoy it and I felt it was a bit too real. One thing though; this movie is not a romantic comedy or something, despite what the title or the trailers said. It's a drama movie.

Sarah Huttinger (Jennifer Aniston) is attending her little sister's wedding (Mena Suvari) with her fiancee, Jeff (Mark Ruffalo). It obvious that she have a cold feet regarding marriage and commitment. She accidently learns that her family was the inspiration for the book and film "The Graduate" starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft from her grandmother Katherine (Shirley MacLaine). A man named Beau Burroughs (Kevin Costner) slept with both her grandmother and her mother, so Sarah is trying to get to the bottom of this without telling her father, Earl (Richard Jenkins) and also finding some space from her fiancee.

I hardly listens to the critics anymore. Critics are okay for comparing notes, but in the end it's up to you to decide whether you like a movie or not. So basically, yeah -- I do like this movie. This movie is funny, although not hilarious -- I found some funny bits here and there but not that funny...but I'd tell you, it's heartbreaking and emotional. Apart from those, it's pretty weird change from Rob Reiner who responsible with When Harry Met Sally, he usually direct a stabilize storylines; it's either comedy or drama. This time, it's a bit confusing. First act is all about funny bits with characters met and so on. The second act almost made me choke. Damn it, I thought I almost cry because of the sad scene.

The performances are great, especially from Kevin Costner and Richard Jenkins. I have to tell y'all....I just want to sleep with Kevin Costner after watching this movie. Darn it, he is so sexy. I mean, maybe not the actor -- but more like his character in this movie. Beau is so charming, so handsome, so player and so screw up, I just thought I want to die and go to heaven. I guess the old saying of "you screw the bad guy, but you married the good guy" is come in handy. Hahaha...! Richard Jenkins as always is fabulous, his performance in this movie is made me emotional because he's so sincere. Jennifer Aniston and Shirley MacLaine are also great too, so I don't have any more to say. I love the performance by Mark Ruffalo -- he really can deliver a great emotional scene. Man, I was a bit teary. I won't tell what happened, but let me assure you that it really hit the nerve. One minus side....the ending is a bit rush and a bit of loose end, I reality, I might wanna slap the hell outta Sarah if I was in Jeff's position. But, this is a movie who gives you tears and laughter. So, I really think it's a nice movie.
